Information for International Students

Currently Learn To Fly San Diego is a flight school operating under Part 61 of the FAA code of federal regulations.

We can train nonimmigrant international students who are already in the USA with a valid visa.

Our instructors are registered with the TSA as providers for training of international students.
If you are already in the USA with a valid visa we can assist you in changing providers to one of our instructors.
The TSA charges a $130 fee for this process.

Visitors to the USA are allowed to take up to 18 hours per week of study (approximately 1 or 2 flight lessons a day, 5 or 6 days a week) without obtaining a Student Visa. If you wish to train more than 18 hours per week, or for longer than the duration of a Visitor Visa, then you will need to obtain a Student Visa. For more information go to: http://www.usinfo.org/enus/government/forpolicy/types_1268.html

Currently we can not issue I-20 forms. We are in the process of applying for Part 141 status which will enable us to issue I-20 forms to international students outside the USA which will enable them to go to a US embassy or consulate in their home country and request a visa to come to the USA and train with us. We will announce when 141 status has been approved and when we will be able to issue I-20 forms.
